  • BBVA pays a dividend of €0.08 gross per share in July.
  • BBVA acquires Catalunya Banc in an auction conducted by the Fund for the Orderly Restructuring of the Banking Sector (FROB). With this operation BBVA doubles its market share in Catalonia and becomes the sector's leading player in Spain. The purchase will have a positive effect on the Group's accounts in 2016.
  • BBVA and Visa launch BBVA Wallet, the first cloud-based commercial solution for mobile payments. This new system will enable BBVA customers who use Android terminals with NFC technology to make contactless purchases.

BBVA and ATA (Spain's National Federation of the Self-Employed) have signed a new partnership agreement as part of the Yo Soy Empleo program to provide 1,500 euros to each new self-employed worker registered as self-employed.
  • BBVA has been recognized as the best Spanish company in online communication of corporate responsibility, according to the Italian consultancy firm Lundquist.
  • Yo Soy Empleo has helped create 5,000 new jobs among SMEs and self-employed workers during the first 15 months of this program. Spanish SMEs and self-employed workers have benefited from financial aid for hiring, training and recruitment.
